Skylla-i (3) has three full-current outlets for charging three different battery banks.

Skylla-i (3) has three independent outputs. The entire rated output current can be supplied by all outputs.

Robust

Aluminium epoxy powder coated housings with drip shield and stainless steel fittings can survive the toughest circumstances, including heat, humidity, and salt air.

For optimal corrosion resistance, the printed circuit boards are covered with an acrylic coating.

Temperature sensors guarantee that electrical components always work within defined limits, automatically lowering output current in harsh climatic circumstances if necessary.

Flexible

A rotary switch, DIP switches, and potentiometers are provided in addition to the CAN bus interface (NMEA2000) to tailor the charging algorithm to a specific battery and its operating circumstances.

Parallel action that is synchronized

The may bus interface may be used to synchronize several charges. Simply connect the chargers with RJ45 UTP cables to do this. For further details, please see the manual.

The optimal charging rate for a lead-acid battery: variable absorption time

To minimize overcharging the battery, the absorption phase is reduced when the discharge is shallow. Following a deep drain, the absorption charging time is raised automatically to guarantee that the battery is fully recharged.
BatterySafe mode protects against over-gassing damage.

Skylla-i will avoid over-gassing damage by automatically restricting the rate of voltage increase once the gassing voltage has been achieved if a combination of high charge current and high absorption voltage is used to charge a battery fast.

When the battery is not in use, it ages and requires less maintenance: storage mode.

When the battery has not been drained for 24 hours, the storage mode is engaged. To avoid gassing and corrosion of the positive plates during storage, the float voltage is decreased to 2.2 V/cell (26.4 V for 24 V batteries). The voltage is raised back up to absorption level once a week to “freshen” the battery. This action keeps electrolytes from stratifying and sulphating.

Temperature adjustment improves battery life.

A battery temperature sensor is included with all Skylla-i chargers. When connected, the charging voltage decreases automatically as the temperature of the battery rises. This capability is especially suggested for sealed lead-acid batteries and/or when the battery is projected to experience considerable temperature swings.

The Skylla-i incorporates a voltage probe function to compensate for voltage losses due to cable resistance, ensuring that the battery always receives the right charging voltage.

AC and DC power supply (AC-DC and DC-DC operation) compatible

DC power is also supported by the chargers.

Use as a power source

The Skylla-i may be utilized as a power source in the absence of batteries or compensating capacitors due to its fully stabilized voltage output.

Li-Ion battery ready (LiFePo4)

Connecting a relay or optocoupler with open collector output from a Li-Ion BMS to the charger’s remote control connection allows for simple on/off control. Connecting to the galvanically separated CAN-bus port allows for full voltage and current management.
